Marius Geantă is President and Co-Founder of the Center for Innovation in Medicine, a non-governmental organisation based in Bucharest, Romania, focused on innovation in the healthcare sector. The aim of the Center for Innovation in Medicine is to shorten the time between the emergence of innovations in the medical sector and their application so that they can benefit patients both in Romania and elsewhere.
Read moreThe Centre for Innovation in Medicine (INOMED) is a Bucharest-based, independent not for profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the adoption of innovation in healthcare — bridging the gap between scientific progress and real-world impact for patients and citizens in Romania and across Europe.
Since its establishment, INOMED has worked at the intersection of innovation, policy, and communication, with a strong focus on enabling access to cutting-edge advances in areas such as personalised (precision) medicine, genomics and multi-omics, digital health, oncology, biotechnology, and systems biology. By creating platforms for dialogue, education, and advocacy, INOMED has contributed to shaping a more informed and innovation-ready healthcare ecosystem.
Over time, this mission has evolved.
Today, INOMED is increasingly engaged in European research and implementation projects, where innovation is not only analysed, but actively tested, adapted, and translated into practice. This shift reflects a broader commitment: moving from awareness and policy support to implementation, scalability, and measurable impact.
A key dimension of this work is addressing health inequalities and advancing health equity — recognising that access to innovation is uneven, and that effective solutions must be tailored to real-world contexts. INOMED’s approach combines:
Through its involvement in major European initiatives (including Horizon Europe and EU4Health projects), INOMED contributes to developing and implementing personalised, prevention-oriented models of care, particularly in areas such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. These projects bring together research, policy, and community-level action — ensuring that innovation reaches people in ways that are meaningful, trusted, and effective.
At the same time, INOMED continues to act as a connector and catalyst, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders — from researchers and clinicians to policymakers, patient organisations, and citizens.
By integrating science, policy, and society, the Centre for Innovation in Medicine remains committed to its core purpose: shortening the path from innovation to citizens and patients benefit — while ensuring that this path is equitable, inclusive, and sustainable.
